Martin Pollak, MD, Chief of Nephrology, and his team are advancing our understanding of what causes end-stage kidney disease and why this debilitating condition disproportionately affects African Americans. Philanthropy has served as a powerful catalyst in translating their findings into more effective treatments for those who need them most.

With its state-of-the-art facility and interdisciplinary team of experts, the Beth Israel Lahey Health Heart Transplant Program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides comprehensive care to individuals experiencing severe heart conditions. For Phil Liaboe, one of the program’s early transplant recipients, the leading-edge treatment he received dramatically changed his life.
