In My Mother’s Honor

Sue Powers, RNMS, distinctly remembers her discomfort when her mother was undergoing treatment for breast cancer almost 20 years ago and couldn’t find a comfortable bra. “We had nowhere to turn for help,” Sue said, “so I decided that I would find a way to create a safe space for women to shop for bras, wigs, and other items that would help them while undergoing cancer treatments.”

Investing in our Nurses

For 15 consecutive years, proceeds from the annual James F. McDonough, MD, Golf Classic enabled more than 100 registered nurses (RN’s) at Winchester Hospital to obtain their bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN). Despite the 2020 tournament's cancellation due to the pandemic, the Winchester community continued to rally around our nurses.

Healthcare Heroes: Cummings Foundation

The outpouring of support for Winchester Hospital has been remarkable since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cummings Foundation, a longtime supporter of Winchester Hospital, made a gift of $100,000 to support the hospital’s Healthcare Heroes Fund.

An Extra Helping of Comfort

Thanks to the ongoing generosity of loyal donors Indu and Gita Muni, the Winchester Hospital cafeteria has been completely transformed. After a ceiling-to-floor makeover and additional equipment upgrades, the heart of the hospital now offers extra comfort and respite for valued patients, visitors, and staff.

Managing Cancer Side Effects

Winchester will soon launch an innovative "cold cap" therapy that will help patients with cancer to minimize hair loss during chemotherapy. Cathie Jackson, who has experienced successful treatment, is proud to help bring this technology to the hospital.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, Winchester Hospital’s intensive care unit will undergo a series of extensive upgrades that create a bright and spacious environment conducive to patients’ healing and recovery, while also supporting the well-being of a large team of dedicated caregivers.

A Special Challenge

Winchester Hospital has announced an exciting challenge grant, initiated by a generous gift. The memorial tribute invites the community to join in honoring pediatrician Donald J. Annino, MD, who provided more than six decades of dedicated service to children and families. Funds raised will benefit the community’s smallest patients in the Special Care Nursery.
