The Asian American Diabetes Initiative, pioneered by Joslin and its supportive community members, strives to enhance quality of life and health outcomes for Asian Americans living with diabetes, and its prevention through research, education, outreach, and culturally responsive treatment.
In 1938, Frank Ring was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12. When he began receiving care under Elliott Joslin, MD, his life changed dramatically. Frank and his family established an inspiring legacy of enduring support, continued today by his son, David Ring, and David’s wife, Elaine.
Longtime supporters of the Joslin Diabetes Center, John and Anne Bray, have endowed a new lectureship series named in honor of Donna M. Younger, MD, a pioneer in the field of diabetes who has been an esteemed member of the medical staff for more than 50 years.
To recognize and thank Lori Laffel, MD, Frank and Nancy Selldorff recently made a generous gift to support her research focused on the use of new technology to monitor glucose levels in children and adolescents.
